Deceive the eye

I’m delighted with Borromini gallery at Palazzo de la Spada. It is very amusing, a splendid idea!

Borromini didn’t have the enough space to create a magnificent gallery so he used an ingenious game of perspective.  He forces perspective  by diminishing the space between columns and creating a rising floor as the  ceiling height decreases. The virtual depth of the gallery is about 35 metres, but the real measurement is 8.82 metres!

He is literally playing with our senses. Why don’t we follow him and play a little more to?
